EDINBURGH MEDICAL SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

The Edinburgh Medical School 300 year: reflect, connect and explore!

Come and look around the Edinburgh Medical School 300 tent to see our exhibitions, talk with our researchers and maybe even get a temporary tattoo with a symbol relevant to women’s health and some of the projects at Edinburgh Medical School.

Join the Edinburgh Medical School 300 led workshops in the central tent (spaces available on a first come, first served basis).

These will run on both Saturday and Sunday:

12:00 - 13:00 : Zine Making Workshop - Led by Professor Sarah Cunningham-Burley and Dr Karissa Patton, Centre for Biomedicine, Self and Society, Usher Institute, University of Edinburgh.

What are your wishes for women’s health? What do you hope or imagine for the future of women’s health and women’s health research? In this zine-making workshop, we will creatively reflect on these questions. Zines are small, DIY magazines that have been used to create art, share ideas, and explore politics for decades. They are fun to make! In this workshop we will start with some brainstorming exercises and then show you how to create your own mini-zine about the topic of women’s health – you can choose. No artistic experience required and the event is open to all.

14:00 - 15:00 : Poetry Workshop - Led by Marie Larsson, Centre for Biomedicine, Self and Society, Usher Institute, University of Edinburgh

Take a moment to pause, reflect and create in this guided poetry workshop session. Using stories, poems and other materials about sexual, reproductive and women’s health as inspiration, this workshop invites you to craft your own ‘found poetry’. It’s open to all, from novices to experienced poets! There is also a contraceptive poetry exhibition to look at in the Edinburgh Medical School 300 tent.
