1:30-2:30 I am Woman: Unleash your voice with Melin Edomwonyi

This workshop draws inspiration from the iconic "I Am a Man" posters created for Dr. King and The Memphis Sanitation Workers’ Strike. These powerful posters, have become iconic in the history of protest art and left a lasting impression on the art and activism landscapes.

In our session, we will breathe new life into this historic artwork, adding a contemporary twist that echoes the struggles of modern women. The original posters conveyed the profound desire of black men to be recognised as human beings—a sentiment that resonates deeply with the everyday experiences of women today.

Led by Melin, our workshop will encourage you to reflect on what it means to be a woman in today’s world—whether you’re a daughter, a mother, a woman of colour, or a queer woman. We’ll explore the words that resonate with you and help you express your own declarations to the world.

Join us for a journey of self-discovery and expression where your voice is heard and your message is seen. Let’s explore what it means to be a woman in today’s society and shout it out to the world through art!

3:00-4:00 Domestic Dusters and Craftivism In conversation with Vanessa Marr, Katy Styles and Sarah Rees

Join Vanessa Marr, founder of Domestic Dusters, and Katy Styles, founder of We Care, for an inspiring talk about their recent collaboration where they used craftivism to translate the lived experience of unpaid carers from across Wales into a display of hand-embroidered dusters. These cloths, selected for the invisibility they share with caring roles, were strung across the Senedd and presented to MPs, calling for improved rights. Unpaid care is a role predominantly fulfilled by women, a cause that both Vanessa and Katy support passionately. Joined in conversation with Sarah Rees from Oxfam Cymru, they will reveal the inspiration behind their partnership and the stories of those who stitched them. Their session will also include an invitation to embroider your own duster.

Stitching Conversational Blanket

Inside the Beth Morris Workshops studio will be the Conversation Blanket. A free drop in all day session where attendees are invited to stitch words into the blanket relating to mental health.

With health and care needs affecting Every Woman differently, many find it difficult to talk about subjects considered taboo. Well not here, even if you can’t say it, you can stitch it! Our EveryWoman blanket aims to get us talking via needle and thread. Through stitch you will be empowered to tell stories and express emotions.

In the first festival we were sponsored by Melin Tregwynt who kindly donated this beautiful blanket for us to begin our story. We are continuing that story in 2024 - and we want you to add to the conversation.

The blanket will be available to stitch all day as a free drop-in activity at Beth Morris Workshops studio (located in the carpark) - pop by, pull up a chair and grab a needle and thread to add your voice.

Join us at The Everywoman Arts Centre, nestled just off the car park in the Festival Grounds. Immerse yourself in a realm where creativity, wellbeing, and motivational conversations happen.

BOOK a Motivate Arts Workshop, where visionaries share their insights and ignite inspiration. You can also explore your inner creativity in our BOOKABLE Mindful Art Workshops that take place every hour in the beautiful Acer Gardens.

For those seeking extra hands-on experiences, our Make and Take Tents await. Delve into the joy of crafting in our drop-in sessions, where the only limit is your imagination. Best of all, all the Make and Take experiences are free - just show up and let your creativity flow.

And don't miss the opportunity to be part of our Conversation Blanket, pop into the Beth Morris Workshop Studio. Bring your voice, bring your words, and stitch your thoughts into the fabric of collective dialogue. This is another free activity.

Come, be part of a community where every brushstroke, every word, and every stitch weaves a tapestry of shared experiences for Every Woman.
